Underpinning in Greater Manchester
The method of underpinning is one by which a structure’s load is transferred in those instances where it is displaying visible signs of sinking or subsidence. A new support is installed into the ground so that the load can be transferred.
Where a void is required underneath an existing building or to reinforce it, underpinning can also be used. For instance, the method may be used where a supporting wall is being removed and the pillars that will be holding up the weight of both the steel and the structure above it need some extra strength.
When is Underpinning needed?
There are many situations where underpinning is needed. This includes things like having: foundations that do not have the strength to hold up the property, foundations that have shifted due to unstable slopes or landslip, foundations that have been affected by heave or subsidence, foundations that are vibration damaged or to accommodate a deep sewer, a new basement or a new adjoining building structure
We offer a wide variety of underpinning services throughout Great Manchester and are more than happy to perform assessments of your property for any signs of sinking or subsidence, and then offer advice on what solution is best for you.
