Mini Piling in Liverpool

Where the ground is not suitable for the regular methods of creating foundations to be used, mini piling is used instead. The method sees large metal casings being either screwed or driven into the Earth, and once in position, filled up with concrete in order to create strong piles. A structural Engineer uses their expertise to work out the exact amount, layout, and diameter of the piles required. They take into account things like the ground they are going into, the level of access to it, and the type of structure being supported when coming up with this information.

When is Mini Piling needed?

Any property where the foundations are already made via the mini piling method needs to have any new construction done with the same type of foundations. Where underground services are identified in the construction of a structure, mini piling is recommended as it is the best method for avoiding damage. Similarly, if there are tree roots (these can affect traditional foundations) then mini piling is used. The method is the most effective way of eliminating the risk of subsidence occurring and works well to secure a structure’s foundations

Bottom Driven Piles

These types of piles are a common building foundation which gives structure’s support and allows for loads to be transferred onto different sections of rock and soil – providing they have the right level of weight bearing capacity and the settlements are suitable.

For the purpose of supporting bridges, walls, and/or structures, the most cost effective solution for putting in deep foundations is bottom driven piles. The method is also used for anchorage structures, retaining walls, and embankments.

In order for a foundation to be described as being piled, its depth must be a minimum of 3 times the breadth. Bottom drive piles are thin and long in shape, and are made from preformed materials. They are installed into the ground by either pushing, hammering, or vibrating. If the Earth they are being put into is really dense, then pre drilling can be done in order to help them get into the ground.
