Mini Piling in Ellesmere Port

The method of creating foundations for a building on an unsuitable type of ground is what is known as mini piling. As part of it, steel casings are either screwed down or driven down into the Earth, where they are then filled with concrete to form rigid piles.

The exact number of piles, their precise layout, and the diameter of them is something that is worked out by an expert structural engineer and is different for each and every situation. However, these things are determined by factors, such as the type of building being constructed, the condition of the ground, and the type of access or lack of it that there may be.

When is Mini Piling needed?

If a property has foundations that are piles, then further additions made to it need to have the same type of foundations.

Where there happens to be some underground services (i.e. main drains or water mains) in the footprint of a new building, mini piling is recommended as it is a good way to avoid damage from happening.

Similarly, if there happens to be any tree roots present, they have the potential to impact on the footings and so mini piling is a suitable solution to use.

Mini piling is also a great way of eliminating the risk of subsidence occurring and to secure the a building’s foundations.

Bottom Driven Piles

Bottom driven piles are put into the ground using an internal drop hammer in order to drive the closed end steel casing deep into the ground so that it creates a stable foundation for a property. Once this is done, the drop hammer is then taken away and a reinforcement is put in and then filled with a concrete.

We provide a range of piling solutions in and around the Ellesmere Port area.
