Mini Piling in Stalybridge
Even if the ground conditions for a structure are unsuitable for regular foundations to be laid, there is a process called mini piling that can be used to remedy this. The process involves screwing or driving big steel casings into the Earth and then filling them up with concrete to form piles.
Structural engineers calculate the layout, the diameter, and the amount of piles that are needed. These things are determined by what the access is like, what the ground conditions are, and the type of the structure that needs support. The depth of the piles depends on the type of ground, as well as its condition.
When is Mini Piling needed?
Those structures that have piled foundations already will need to ensure that any further additions that are made to it are done so using the same type of foundations. Mini piling is a good process to use where there are underground services in the footprint of a structure, as it helps to avoid any damage being incurred.
It is also good to use in those instance where there are tree roots in the footprint of a structure. The process is also great at stopping subsidence and securing foundations.
Bottom Driven Piles
This process provides a highly cost effective solution for creating foundations, as well as being better for the environment due to the fact that it uses a lot less concrete. It is a solution that produces no spoil and so it is perfect to use in those areas where there is contaminated ground.
This process is widely used in those areas that have restrictions due to poor ground conditions, and so making regular deep foundations is hugely impractical.
The process entails big metal tubes being driven into the ground (between 2m and 6m in depth) with a big internal drop hammer. Once they are in position, they are plugged up with concrete, forming a solid pile.
We provide a range of piling solutions in and around the Stalybridge area.
