Underpinning in Tameside
Known as underpinning, this construction technique is used in those instances where structures experiencing sinking or subsidence have their load transferred. The structure’s load is moved to a new firm ground support. It is a technique that is also used for the purpose of creating a void space underneath existing buildings or to provide more reinforcement to a building. For instance, the technique can be used where the supporting wall of a structure is being removed and the remaining pillars need extra strength to hold up the steel and the weight of the building above.
When is Underpinning needed?
Underpinning can be used in many situations including: where the foundations do not have enough strength to hold up the structure, where the foundations have moved as a result of unstable slopes or landslip, where the foundations have been impacted by heave or subsidence, where the foundations are vibration damaged, to make space for deep sewers, basements or adjoining building structures
We provide underpinning services throughout the whole of Tameside and are happy to perform assessments of a structure for any signs of sinking or subsidence, and then offer advice on what solution is best for you.
